Last week I helped take a Seiritsu class to the Canadian embassy so they could learn about Canadian culture. The embassy staff were very helpful. The students wanted to know what high school students in Canada are like. They were surprised to learn the Japanese manga Naruto is popular. We also asked why Canada is better than the US, but the staff were very diplomatic in saying both countries are friends and comparing is not something they do.But a 'wink, wink' was included...
先週、カナダ文化学習のため成立学園の生徒がカナダ大使館に行くのに同行しました。大使館のスタッフはとても親切でした。生徒達はカナダの高校生がどんな感じなのか知りたがりました。日本のマンガのNarutoが人気があることに驚いていました。
なぜカナダはアメリカよりも優れているのか聞いてみると、スタッフはとても外交的に、両国とも友好であり、比較をするということをしないんですよと、おっしゃってました。
「な〜んてね。」とめくばせをしてましたけど。。。
